{"id":83,"date":"2012-08-08T14:27:59","date_gmt":"2012-08-08T14:27:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/clientswebdesigns.com\/sanssouciblogs\/?p=83"},"modified":"2015-02-17T20:32:51","modified_gmt":"2015-02-17T20:32:51","slug":"tuesday-tech-tips-101-ooooops-they-got-me-twice-more-computer-stuff","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/clientswebdesigns.com\/sanssouciblogs\/tuesday-tech-tips-101-ooooops-they-got-me-twice-more-computer-stuff\/","title":{"rendered":"Tuesday Tech Tips 101: ooooops they got me&#8230;twice&#8230;more computer stuff&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/clientswebdesigns.com\/sanssouciblogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/hand.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-84\" title=\"hand\" src=\"http:\/\/clientswebdesigns.com\/sanssouciblogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/hand.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a>Well, friends, I think I continue to get the prize for computer wackiness; if Mercury is the god of communication in them thar Greek parts, can he still be in retrograde?<\/p>\n<p>If you recall, I was drowning in Dell computer issues and if you were following my tales of woe through the years, (yes, years) you would now know that:<br \/>\n\u2022I had an original laptop that I purchased in 2009 and within a year it had to be replaced due to puter poltergeist;<br \/>\n\u2022that in a little over a year the replacement computer had to be replaced due to freezing and the same wacky poltergeist as its predecessor;<br \/>\n\u2022that a &#8220;mini&#8221; computer, soon after, began to display the same disease;<br \/>\n\u2022that the disease I speak of consisted of typed words and letters flying to other lines on the page thus making my writing less than cogent and appearing as though I were speaking in tongues;<br \/>\n\u2022that around that time I purchased a Mac out of disgust and desperation;<br \/>\n\u2022that both the replacement computers took months to set up and run properly and had to be replaced three more times.<\/p>\n<p>I rest my case and my insanity and am knocking wood that all appears to be working well, even my five year old desktop.<\/p>\n<p>And then this happened:<\/p>\n<p>I had been so busy with my PC issues with Dell that I did not even bother firing up the new Mac; it sat lonely in its case having been shunned by its roommates of a different operating system. But I decided on Friday night to pull it out and let it visit with holiday company.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s what happened:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022I booted it up;<br \/>\n\u2022I marveled at its brushed aluminum beauty;<br \/>\n\u2022I tried to briefly reacclimate myself&#8211;the Mac\/PC divide is a chasm for me;<br \/>\n\u2022The computer began to do an update that required rebooting;<br \/>\n\u2022It froze;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022It died;<br \/>\n\u2022I was floored.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Well, friends, I think I continue to get the prize for computer wackiness; if Mercury is the god of communication in them thar Greek parts, can he still be in retrograde?
