The Dryer Vents — 7 Comments

  1. I don’t know how anyone else feels, but the project to replace the dryer vents was underestimated by the Management group. In my case the bill to do the job was nearly twice the high estimate provided in their letter. I would imagine that all the units were set up the same way so we should all be getting higher estimates than originally stated.

    Any comments would be appreciated.

  2. I nearly had a heart attack when I saw the proposed estimate Lintbusters Charlie started to discuss. I didn’t even let him finish and asked him to leave.
The estimates definitely are higher than the board estimated plus I feel that any repairs ESPECIALLY involving capping the roof are structural and should be the responsibility of Timber Ridge and not individual unit owners. I think too that since most of us are dealing with originally installed venting systems, even these internal replacements should come under the auspices of Timber Ridge.

Karen Schleimer notes there’s never been a dryer fire at TR and says the village would not find us in violation of code with respect to dryer vents.

  3. I pleaded my case with the board and I was shot down by all. At the least I indicated to them that the Management Company should at least pick up part of the cost. I was also told that my frustrations should be against the previous board members and management company. I thought the statement was kind of ill advised statement. Since there is no way to find out what other unit members think it is kind of a lost cause to get this posted here.

Please encourage other people to use the site-then we will know how other people feel. I have heard that many other people are also distressed. The more people that join in the conversation, the more information we will have. I am sorry that the response from the Board was inadequate. Perhaps we should all plan to attend the next Board meeting on October 23rd.

  4. Hey Laura and Bill: It seems there are a few people not happy with the dryer vent project, but not enough to make a difference with the Board or Management Company. Based on the letter I received today which quoted a number of rules and regulations looks like it will happen as they stated in their original proposal for date completion and penalty of not completed by 11/30. The Management Company’s original proposal state only that the plastic hose would be replaced with metal. Which is OK with me. But the re-routing of hoses and exterior construction to make this happen should have been indicated in some way. Karen wants to meet further an talks of an injunction to stop them but not sure if this is the way to go. Any thoughts?
