The Mount Kisco Public Library Foundation

The Mount Kisco Public Library has served as the hub of lifelong learning in Northern Westchester. Mount Kisco voters overwhelmingly approved an $8 million library bond proposition in November 2005, allowing the Village to replace the existing library with a new, state-of-the-art 18,000 square foot library. The library was completed in 2009 and now serves the Mount Kisco community.

Usage at the new Mount Kisco Public Library has since increased significantly with circulation up nearly 17% and the number of card holders rising by 97%. Out-of-town library card holders account for nearly 40% of the total items checked out from the Mount Kisco Public Library. The adjacent communities of Bedford Hills, Bedford Village, Chappaqua, and Katonah comprise the majority of out-of-town users; however, library patrons from Ossining, South Salem, Somers, and Shrub Oak also regularly visit the library in Mount Kisco.

The Foundation was established in 2005 by local residents-with support from the Library's Board of Trustees, the Village Board, and Friends of the Library. Its goal was to support the Public Library, its special projects, and the growing needs of the community. The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization.
